Do you know Ariana Grande? Do you know she is working with a previous star of iCarly on a new television series? Were you aware that she was one of the first female solo artists to debut with a top ten single on billboard hot 100?

The new challenge that she faces today is not so glamorous as having to decide on what she wants to wear to the VMAs, yet she has to deal with this side of fame as well.

She has recently been sentenced to vocal rest by a doctor because the doctor claims she has suffered a hemorrhaged vocal chord.

Ariana Grande has had an amazing year with a new album that was the first female artists album to debut at number one in three years on the Billboard 200 chart, multiple performances including one at the VMA’s pre show. Billboard has confirmed that the 20-year-old singer has suffered a hemorrhaged vocal chord. Ariana Grande posted on Twitter on Wednesday September 11th that she was spending her day off by taking “vocal rest and watching movies in,” and followed that up with the tweet, “For those of u asking about my voice I screamed too much at my party totally irresponsible but its better now, thanks for the well wishes.”

“Yours Truly” debuted with 138,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making the Nickelodeon star the 15th solo female artist to have their first album bow atop the Billboard 200 chart, which may have explained the screaming that has left her voice slightly damaged or sore. The album success follows the chart run of her single “The Way,” featuring Mac Miller, which debuted at No. 10 on the Hot 100 chart last spring.

Grande’s next scheduled performance is on Sept. 22, in New Albany, Ohio. Last month, the singer embarked on her first headlining tour, dubbed the Listening Sessions, which ran for nine dates.

The star is not allowed to even talk while she tries to get her throat back to normal, according to TMZ.

A source told the website that after she performed at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Monday night she “badly strained her vocal chords”. Then when she appeared on a radio show on Tuesday she was unable belt out a tune, leaving her devastated.

After rushing to a medical expert, Ariana was told to stay mum for at least four days and as a result she has had to cancel several media appearances in America, including The Queen Latifah Show and The Arsenio Hall Show.

Despite reports today that Ariana Grande is canceling a string of performance dates because of a vocal-cord hemorrhage, the 20-year-old pop singer is still expected to perform Sept. 22 at the New Albany Classic.

The superstar is expected to stay very active, as is her nature.
