Behind The “B”: A Review of the Bruins New Series
Behind The “B”, presented by Alex and Ani, premiered in an hour long special September 9 on NESN. The series started off with a behind the scenes look at the Boston Bruins management team after losing a must win game six to the Chicago Blackhawks in the final round of the playoffs. The first installment of the series starts off where that game left off and takes a look inside the team management deliberations. Avid Bruins fans (especially ones on twitter) have already heard rumors and stories about the trade with Dallas, sending Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley to the Stars, and the departures of Nathan Horton who left for Columbus and Andrew Ference returning to his hometown of Edmonton. The Bruins media team also made a series earlier on in the summer called Bear Tracks where they followed around Milan Lucic and his family in their native Vancouver. In addition to Lucic they followed someone new to the team, veteran forward Jarome Iginla. Some of that information became repetitive after watching their videos over the summer. Later on in the show they focus on the rookies at the Bruins development camp that took place over the summer. It’s interesting to see how they break the news to the players about whether they are going to make it onto the Providence Bruins, Boston Bruins, or go back to their college or junior team, but most fans don’t know who these players are yet. The funniest and most memorable part of the show was a short segment at the end of the episode with Tuukka Rask and his brother Joonas at a charity golf event. If the rest of the series continues with the behind the scenes never before seen footage highlighting players different personalities then I think fans will enjoy this new look at their favorite players.
