Cubs Win World Series
The Chicago Cubs won the World Series, ending a 108-year drought.
The series between the Cubs and the Cleveland Indians went to a game seven after a remarkable comeback from the Cubs being down 3-1.
Game seven was on Wednesday, November 2 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
The game was exciting and, as expected, extremely close.
In the top of the tenth inning the Cubs scored two runs. The Indian were on the verge of a comeback; they scored one run in the bottom of the tenth, but one run was all they would get. The Cubs ended up beating the Indians 8-7 in 10 innings.
The third baseman for the Cubs, Kris Bryant, made the final play of the game; he smiled as he fielded the ground ball and threw to first. After the play, Bryant dropped to his knees in excitement.
Chicago Cubs fans have been waiting for this day for a long time.
“It’s pretty cool to see a team who has not won a championship win one,” said senior Nick Schofield. “I feel bad for the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL because now they are the team [in any sport] with the longest drought of winning a championship.”
