Exam Stress: Here We Go Again
Despite the frigid temperatures you may have felt this winter, many students are feeling the heat with trimester two assessments coming up.
Alex Poulson ’21 took a break from study hall to speak with The Willistonian. He said finals “can be stressful, and I’m not thrilled that they are coming, however I feel that I have prepared sufficiently.”
Alex said the spacing out of the assessment schedule, however, makes it not too frightening.
“The schedule is not especially bad,” he said. “I usually have a good amount of down time, where I can sleep, relax, or study for an exam, so even though it can be stressful, it’s not unreasonable.”
While many students are getting heated about assessment week, Senior Graham Allardyce remains cold as ice, with no fear of the incoming exam week.
“I am not overly worried about assessment weeks,” said Graham. “I trust myself and the work that I have done, and I believe that I have and will do anything I need to do to be successful.”
Graham said he never gets very stressed for assessment week, and especially not this one because, as as senior, it’s the last time he’ll take finals.
The Willistonian caught up with Jun Park ’20, a resident in Ford Hall, to see how stressed he is and how well he is handling it.
“I would say that the assessments can be difficult, and I want to finish strong,” he said. “I will do my absolute best, however I cannot help but feel a bit of pressure,” he said.
Jun said in the week leading up to assessment week, many teachers begin to cram work in before the trimester comes to an end.
“I think that the week leading up to assessment week can at times be more strenuous than the actual exams themselves,” he said. “Many teachers have a lot to do in a short amount of time, which then results in a week of cramming.”
