Faculty Show Their Talent

Ms. Davey and Ms. Ditkovski performed Annie’s “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.”

On Saturday evening this past week, Williston students were graced with the many gifts of the faculty at the second annual Faculty Talent Show.

Ms. Erin Davey, science teacher by day, served as the MC of the evening. The show opened with a performance by Anthony Leung, the only student to earn a spot in the performance. But that was just the beginning.

After wowing the audience with some casual mind reading, Leung ’15 performed a trick that both captivated and worried the spectators. He swallowed fifteen sewing needles along with some thread, separately of course, only to pull out the needles all threaded on the twine, much to the amazement of the audience.

Mr. Charles Raffetto officially opened up the show with his lip sync to The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.” His air guitar was phenomenal, captivating the crowd and enticing a wild response.

Following his act, Ms. Michelle Lawson took the stage by storm, clad in running gear. Rubix cube in hand, Ms. Lawson began the most important race of her life. A giant timer was shown on the stage as the audience eagerly watched to see if she could break her previous record of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. With suspense ablaze, she finished the cube in a mere 2 minutes and 11 seconds, leaving her previous record in the dust.

Mr. Andrew Shelffo followed with a story for the ages. With a calm disposition and a heavy heart, Mr. Shelffo shared a story about second chances. For those who have not had the opportunity to hear Mr. Shelffo speak, it is a truly transformative experience.

Though he could not be present, Mr. Paul Rutherford presented a video highlighting some amazing disc tricks by himself and Mr. Alex Rivenburg. Mr. Rutherford and Mr. Rivenburg amazed the crowd with their seemingly impossible skills, enticing a sincere reaction of astonishment.

Following the video was none other than Williston’s very own resident rapper, Mr. Ryan Tyree. With a fur hood and sunglasses, Mr. Tyree took on a different persona while performing.

Ms. Erin Davey and Ms. Emily Ditkovski took the stage, performing “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” from Annie. Props and lyrics were on point as the duo performed the charming number. Even Ms. Kathy Noble got in on the action as Miss Hannigan.

To finish the show Mr. Joshua Harper arrived fashionably late. Strolling in at the last minute, his outstanding rendition of NSync’s “Dirty Pop,” complete with vocals and dance, threatened to steal the show.

Overall, the performance was quite the success. The faculty were given the opportunity to showcase their incredible talents, and students were more than dazzled by the performances and surprises of their teachers.
