The Williston community will definitely look back on the 2024 fall with satisfaction as the wildcats finished with two NEPSAC Titles seven postseason appearances, one player of the year, and countless more individual awards.
Both the football and field hockey teams clinched NEPSAC Championships. Lead by Coaches Beaton, Leigh, and Farmer, the football team showcased grit and determination as five of their victories were come-from- behind thrillers. The team was able to build on their strengths throughout the season, and they kept their foot on the gas to bring home the title and finish with an impressive 8-1 record.
An impressive eight Wildcats earned all NEPSAC recognition. Receiving first team awards weresenior safety Jameson Dion, senior quarterback Davi McDonald, junior running back Brooks Connors, and senior linebacker Max Depatie. Four more were recognized as Honorable Mentions, including senior cornerback Brian Lloyd, junior offensive lineman Dean Ruksnaitis, senior linebacker Rylan Shibley, and senior receiver Troy Worrell. Senior Ryan Commas told The Willistonian that “this was the most talented team” he had ever been a part of.
The field hockey team’s championship run was equally inspiring. The Wildcats’ championship season was capped off by a double overtime winner against the two-time defending champion Middlesex on November 17, when senior Nora Curtis scored the game winner to bring home the title.
The team’s remarkable performance throughout the season was capped off with the NEPSAC crown. To add to the celebration, one of the team’s standout players, junior Zola Piekarski, was recognized as Player of the Year.
