With tariffs taxing products made outside of the U.S., Ford Motor Companies has devised a way to make people buy their American-made cars and trucks.
On April 3, 2025, Ford announced it would offer employee pricing on their vehicles, meaning employees of the company would have access to discounted prices on some vehicles.
There are many vehicles made in the USA which will prevent them from being taxed.
However, Ford is the first company to come out and offer employee pricing on there vehicles for all. General Motors, most commonly known as GM, is also an American made car brand, with headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. Ford Motor Company headquarters is in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford and GM are well known American automakers with many sub car brands within their company. Dodge Ram came out shortly after stating they will offer employee pricing until April, 30 2025. Dodge Ram trucks are made in America. Dodge Ram trucks 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 are all built in their plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
However they also have a factory in Saltillo, Mexico that produces their trucks. Chevrolet and GM has yet to follow suit with the other two American car companies; American made vehicles will be cheaper on the lot than those made outside of the U.S. Ford is the top automaker in the U.S.
Ted Scott, from Massena, N.Y. has worked at Frenchie’s Ford, the local Ford dealership, for 38 years. His branch, he said, did not have a choice on whether they offered employee pricing or not. “Strictly the company of Ford employee pricing is until June 2; not sure what will happen after that, we will have to see,” he said.
Frenchie’s has yet to see the effect of employee pricing, and at the moment, new vehicles are flying of the lot faster than used vehicles. “Employee pricing is busier with new vehicles sales outpacing used vehicles,” he said.
Ted’s sells a lot of explorers and F-150s. “Ford is mainly a SUV and truck company. Only cars are really the mustang and Mach E which Ford considers a crossover. Typically the F-150 is a big seller; Explorer does very well here, too,” he said.
The Willistonian reached out to Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford Motor Companies, on April 15, but did not receive a response back.
The Ford F Series of the most sold vehicles on the market. Ford’s largest factory in the US is the Ford River road complex in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford Motor Company employs approximately 171,000 people worldwide, including its retirees. In the U.S., Ford directly employs about 57,000 hourly manufacturing workers, more than any other automaker. Ford and Lincoln combined have more than 2,800 dealerships in the U.S., employing over 170,000 people.
Ford F Series pricing varies between the vehicles you want. At Frenchie’s Ford in Massena, N.Y., as of April 25, A 2025 F-150 STX 4WD 5.5′ box is for sale at a cash price of $51,790. The Ford F-250 is selling 83,700.
Ford Motor Companies is worth $40.02 billion, as of 4/25, according to the U.S. stock market.
