Turkey police successfully captured Istanbul Rampage suspect
The main suspect for the attack on an Istanbul nightclub early on New Year’s Day was arrested, acording to Turkish news reports and the semiofficial Anadolu news agency, Adbulgadir Masharipov, an Islamic State militant, was accused of planning and executing a deadly shooting rampage that resulted in the death of 39 people, including a police officer. Along with Masharipov, another man and three women were captured. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Samsung Leader Faces Bribery Arrest
On Monday, Jay Y. Lee, the vice chairman of Samsung and the son of the company’s head, Lee Kun-hee, faced arrest after being accused of bribing the South Korean president. As the de facto leader of the South Korea’s largest business conglomerate, Mr. Lee was found to make payments to the family of President Park for the expansion and benefits of Samsung company ; 43 billion won ($36 million) was transferred in total. Ms. Park was impeached earlier and already put on court.
