Ms. Greener ’06 Returns to Campus
This year, Williston had the privilege of welcoming back Lee Greener ’06.
Mrs. Greener returned to Williston to work in the Admissions office, and could not be more thrilled about it. As an alumni, Greener wants to make students’ experiences as similar to hers.
“I look forward to creating the relationships with students that I [still] have with some of my teachers,” she explained.
Greener is particularly fond of all the time, and dedication, she put toward her photography project her senior year.
“My senior photography show was my favorite because it was such an intense project that included early mornings, hours in the lab, and I was very proud to show a side of myself to the whole community that was not as well known.”
When photography comes to mind, Williston students cannot help but think about Mr. Hing. Students that have him love the way he approaches his class, and Greener was one of them.
“Ed Hing was my favorite teacher in my time here,” Greener said. “He helped me discover and explore the creativity within myself as well as challenged me inside and outside of the photography lab. I would not be the person I am today without him.”
After graduating Williston, Greener went on to attend The University of South Carolina. She truly believes Williston helped prepare her for that experience.
“Freshman year in college was a breeze and I knew how to tackle a 300-person lecture as well as a 12-person discussion course with ease because of my time here at Williston. This school not only prepares you for college academically, it prepares you emotionally and helps you define your own version of success.”
In the ten years since leaving campus, Greener has noticed a few things that have changed since she was here.
“Through the core program I have seen the community become stronger and the whole community become a more unified group,” she said. “It doesn’t matter where you are from, your upbringing, your religious beliefs, whether you live on campus or not, you are all unified under Williston and support each other. I think that is awesome.”
When asked about why she wanted to be back, Greener’s answer was simple, heartfelt, and, as always, driven by her love for the community.
“The people,” she said. “It felt like I would be coming home and it still does every day.”
