SAGE Dining Service Changes Williston Cuisine
Most high school students have a lot on their plates. They usually overthink every little detail of almost everything they do. If one thing is for certain, however, it’s that food is always on their minds. Whether they are preparing for a big math test or a big football game, deep in their minds they are asking, “What’s for dinner?”
SAGE is an acronym for Setting a Good Example, and just like their name suggests, they are doing a very good job setting a good example for every prep school dining services.
With only about a week into school, everyone on campus has noticed how hard the dining hall crew is working to give the students great meals.
Chris Dumont ’15 says, “I notice that there’s a lot more variety in the food selection this year. Eggs in the morning are much better now than they were before. Even though I can’t see them working in the kitchen I can tell their work ethic is very high just by the quality of the food.”
Chris is not SAGE’s only fan. Fellow student Jack Gethings also has a couple things to say about SAGE’s changes this year. “I think the dining hall services took big leap in satisfying the students’ taste buds,” he notes.
The dining hall has also improved on always having fresh food out and ready for students. Last year there were a number of complaints about how food had been left out for too long and had become stale or dry. This year the goal is freshness. The crew in the kitchen is always whipping up new dishes and bringing them out so that there is never a long wait for the food that has run out.
Debbi Ciszewski, an employee at the dining hall, says “(SAGE) changed the entire cosmetic atmosphere and has things looking more appealing.” Debbi seems happy with the way things are going at the dining hall this year and is in full support of SAGE.
Debbie also comments, “It’s good for Williston to bring in some other changes and ideas, along with new and healthier recipes.”
Now, whenever students start to drift off during classes and think about what’s for lunch, they know about the hard work and effort being put into that next meal, and that’ll just make it taste that much better.
