Stu Bop Now Takes Credit Cards
Since the start of the new year, Williston’s Stu Bop has been accepting debit and credit cards for the first time ever.
The Stu Bop, located in the center of Reed, provides students with alternative breakfast, lunch, and snack options. In past years, the Stu Bop has only accepted Sammy Cards. However, not all students use their Sammy Card for purchases; some keep them as simply a dorm key and a form of identification. Staring on January 2, 2018 the Stu Bop began accepting debit and credit cards.
Brooke Leveille ’18 has loved the change, “I think it is super convenient,” she said. “I mean, I would always have to go to the Campus Store to get a pack of gum, but now I can get the fancy flavors at the Stu Bop, while I get my coffee at the same time.”
Convenience is exactly what the Stu Bop was aiming for. The Stu Bop Manager, Michele Fasoli, stated that she has been seeing a lot of new faces now and people are happier with the change.
With the new change, they believe they have solved that problem. In fact, the Stu Bop has received at least six purchases a day that use a debit or credit card. That adds up to roughly 150 purchases on debit or credit cards so far since the start of the year.
Sydney Joyce ’19 tried out the new system, and is pleased with the change.
Sydney stated, “I bought ice cream for my friends and I one day when I forgot my Sammy Card.” She added that she thinks the Stu Bop now accepting Sammy Cards is super beneficial, especially for students whose parents would prefer them to use their debit or credit cards.
