The Lawn Chairs are Back

The deep green lawn chairs found outside of Memorial Hall and Reed were a gift from the Class of 2011. Many would agree that it is one of the simpler yet most used gifts that the school has received from a graduating class.

A week into the final trimester of the 2015-2016 school year and the lawn chairs are out and back in front of Memorial Hall and Reed. This marks a major difference from this time last school year when the campus was still covered in piles of snow and expecting a bit more before spring peeked through.

This year March came in like a lion and looks to be going out like a lamb, as the weather is taking a turn for the better. With students beginning to break out there spring clothes and geese returning to the pond, spring is truly in the air and right on time.

Outside on the quad, especially in front of Memorial Hall, has always been a popular hangout spot in the fall and the spring. With open grass and laid back chairs, it could not be any more inviting to spend time outdoors.

Earlier this week students were wondering when the lawn chairs were going to be brought back out, as many could not wait to spend more time outside in the warming weather.

Jada Goodrich ’16 says, “The lawn chairs for many students are a symbol that the spring has sprung and that winter is gone for good, which is why so many students get excited when physical plant returns them to their rightful spots in front of Mem. and Reed.”

She continues, “The lawn chairs help set this relaxed, inviting place to come and sit and enjoy the weather, maybe do some work or hang with friends.”
