Trump Picks New Treasury Secretary
Newly elected President Donald Trump elected former Goldman Sachs banker Steve Mnuchin as his Treasury Secretary on Wednesday November 30, 2016.
Mnuchin, who was Trump’s campaign finance chair, raised $169 million in addition to the $66 million Trump spent out of his own pocket during the campaign.
“Steve Mnuchin is a world-class financier, banker and businessman,” President elect Trump said in a statement. Trump added that “he has played a key role in developing our plan to build a dynamic, booming economy that will create millions of jobs.”
Mnuchin is 53 years old and is a Yale graduate. He started his career at Goldman Sachs where he worked for 17 years amassing a fortune of 40 million in the process.
After leaving Goldman Sachs, he founded Ratpac-Dune Entertainments which has produced the movie series “X- Men” and the movies “Avatar” and “American Sniper.”
New Treasury Mnuchin is going to play a key role in President elect Trump’s administration.
In an article posted by the New York Times, the authors stated, “Mr. Mnuchin would play a critical role in carrying out Mr. Trumps promised economic policy changes, including the enactment of a large package of tax cuts, sweeping changes to foreign trade agreements and the fulfillment of a huge new infrastructure spending.
